Available to all grade levels, Science Olympiad encourages the development of critical thinking skills, promotes team-building skills, and enhances cooperativ e learning strategies. Students participating in Science Olympiad tournaments will experience problem solving activities in genetics, chemistry, earth science, geology, anatomy, physics, technology, and mechanical engineering. Science Olympiad tournament goals are to bring science to life, to emphasize problem solving, to develop the understanding of science concepts. Science Olympiad competitions follows a format similar to academic track meets. Twenty-three team events in each division occur in each division. (Division A - Elementary, Division B - Middle School, Division C - High School) Division B & C competitions are in March while Division A competition is in May. Each year, several of the events rotate to reflect the ever-changing nature of genetics, Combining events from all the disciplines, Science Olympiad engages a wide-range of students in all events.
