Seventh Grade Rotation Classes
Seventh Grade Rotation Classes
Computers: The keyboarding class is designed to teach students the proper keying techniques for letters and numbers. Most students entering the seventh grade have computer experiences in elementary school with various educational programs; however, very little time has actually been spent with word processing skills. In order for the student to be able to develop good word processing skills, he must first learn proper keying by the touch method rather than by sight. By the completion of the keyboarding class, the student should have the ability to process basic documents. These skills will serve as the foundation for computer classes offered in later grades.
Music: During the 9-week period spent in music, students study beginning music theory, instruments of the orchestra, baroque and classical composer histories and an overview of musical styles. Grades for the class are based upon notebook and workbook material, classwork, quizzes, and tests.
Study Skills: This course consists of lessons on time management, study environment, reading skills, test-taking tips, and study techniques for different subjects. Students in the course will be required to keep a notebook, which will be graded for the nine-weeks grade. This notebook will include lessons and notes taken from the film “Where There’s A Will There’s an A.” In this film, there are 21 points on how to make better grades. Other videos included in the course are on how to use the library, how to read a textbook, and how to take notes.
Writing: Writing class could probably be better described as “ Creative Writing.” In this class, the students work on polishing the content of short papers through a variety of topics. The focus is on improving grammar when writing, as well as having good detail, structure, and focus. Topics range from ideas such as “My Biggest Fear and How I Got It” to letting students tell a story based on what they see as a picture. Grading is evaluated not only by content and grammar, but also by improvement shown over the 9-weeks.
