Seventh and Eighth Grade Activity Highlights
7th and 8th Grade Student Council: Seventh and eighth graders select class officers each year to serve on the student council. Each grade chooses a president, vice-president, secretary/treasurer, and representative. The class officers help plan events and activities throughout the year.
Outstanding Student Awards: During the school year the teachers in the middle school select Outstanding Students. There are ten students in each grade awarded an Outstanding Student Award each nine weeks. The awards are given out at an assembly each quarter in which parents, relatives, and friends are invited to attend.
Honor Roll and Principal’s List: Each quarter students are recognized for excelling academically. Students named to the Honor Roll are those who make all A’s and B’s with the number of A’s exceeding the number of B’s. Students making all A’s are named to the Principal’s List. These students are specially recognized each quarter with an invitation to eat a special lunch with the schools administrators.
Mr. and Miss GMS: Every year the seventh and eighth grade students select a Mr. and Miss Goodpasture Middle School to represent the school in a recognition program during one of the middle school basketball games. Several seventh and eighth grade students are also selected to represent each class.
Middle School Banquet: Seventh and eighth grade students participate in a year ending banquet. The banquet is a Sunday dress occasion followed by an awards ceremony. This event allows students to socialize in a formal setting.
