Teacher - Kaitlyn Thames
The Theater program at Goodpasture allows students to learn about and be a part of everything that goes into stage productions through Theater 1, Theater 2 and Technical Theater. Theater 1 is an introductory theater class that covers the history of Theater, improvisation, the GOTE acting method and monologue and duet performances. Theater 2 introduces students to many different acting techniques as well as offering opportunities to compete in Forensics Competitions with the Tennessee High School Speech and Drama League. Technical Theater is a very active, hands-on class that is open to juniors and seniors only. The students in this course will gain an understanding of the elements of design and how they are used in sets, lights, costume and makeup. In addition to in-class design projects they spend much of their class time in the auditorium designing, building and painting the sets for our productions here at Goodpasture.
The variety of the program ensures that students have many options available to them to fulfill their fine art credit. Hopefully many of them also find talents and abilities that can be showcased through our productions and classes here at Goodpasture.
Our annual productions consist of a fall play with auditions open for high school students and a spring musical with auditions open to all ages.
For the 2015 spring musical, the Goodpasture Theater Department will present "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" on March 6 and 7 at 7:00pm in the W.F. Ruhl Fine Arts Center located on campus.
